lola guerra

lola is a human rights defender, lawyer, feminist artivist, and fundraising expert with over a decade of experience advocating for human rights, particularly in the areas of gender and sexual and reproductive rights. she was a key figure in the national campaign for the right to legal, safe, and free abortion in argentina, a movement that gave rise to the green scarf, a global symbol for the fight for abortion rights. she has also been part of political advocacy teams that pushed for abortion legalization in argentina and several states in mexico, as well as working on international alliances to defend sexual and reproductive rights within bodies such as the un and oas.

lola served as co-executive director of catholics for the right to decide mexico and was regional coordinator for latin america and the caribbean for the network of catholics for the right to decide, which operates in 12 countries, promoting the coordination of feminist organizations in the region. she also held the role of fundraising strategist and partnership lead at vitala global, an organization dedicated to providing digital solutions for ensuring access to sexual and reproductive rights for women in latin america and for latina migrant women in the united states. in her activism, she has built alliances with various movements, including feminist, lgbtiq+, indigenous, afro-latin american, and trans movements.

academically, she has been part of research teams and taught courses on gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive rights, and comprehensive sexual education. she has led strategic litigation in cases of gender-based violence and provided legal support to women facing barriers to accessing contraceptive methods and abortions within the healthcare system.

with a strong track record in fundraising and strategic alliance development, lola has led fundraising processes for civil society organizations across latin america and the caribbean. she is currently the ceo of a consultancy specializing in fundraising and strategic alliances for organizations committed to gender equity and environmental sustainability.

a fun fact about lola is that, alongside her fellow argentine feminist activists, she took part in an intervention on the red carpet at the cannes international film festival. the activists attended to present the documentary que sea ley (let it be law), which focuses on the fight for abortion rights in argentina. lola appeared on the red carpet wearing a green dress with the embroidered phrase “abortion legal, safe, and free,” drawing global media attention.
